Jay Ryan, the founding member of Chicago printshop The Bird Machine, is one of the premiere poster artists in the U.S. His animal menageries and iconic hand-drawn lettering are featured the aptly titled 2005 book 100 Posters, 134 Squirrels. Jay started printing posters for his own band (Dianogah), and the clubs they played at. Work from other clubs and other bands started to come in, and The Bird Machine was founded in 1999 in the basement of Jay’s apartment building. Recent gigposters include designs for Mudhoney, Modest Mouse, Jeff Tweedy, and the Pitchfork Music Festival.

100% of the proceeds from Screens 'N' Spokes sales benefit the National MS Society.

In its second year, the Screens 'N' Spokes benefit art show is up at Mugshots CoffeeHouse and Chapterhouse Cafe & Gallery in Philadelphia, PA and MilkBoy Coffee in Ardmore, PA (through Sept. 30)
